Webinar Background :

Recently, the U.S. Senate passed two acts - The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act and the Providing Urgent Maternal Protections for Nursing Mothers Act (known as the PUMP Act). These latest regulations bring forward several new compliance mandates for all employers to abide by.

Employers are now required to provide reasonable accommodation for pregnancy related medical conditions. Under the new changes, employers cannot deny employment opportunities or have their employees take paid or unpaid leave based on these reasonable accommodations. Other protections come from the state level as well the pieces of federal legislation released previously. Employers need to update their policies to comply with these new regulations. Also, Employers and HR must make sure that all their supervisors and managers are on the same page to avoid any legal and financial risks.
