2024 I-9 Updates For Employers - New Verification Rules, E-Verify Timelines, Anti-Discrimination Rules & More
The U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) has adopted a bold new approach in 2024 to crack down on employers who violate immigration laws. ICE is on an audit spree with already imposed fines on many employers not in compliance. It is common for employers and HR to assume their I-9 compliance practices are in order when, in fact, their records and policies are littered with mistakes, leaving the business and individuals open to fines, lawsuits, and jail time. Employers and HR professionals are navigating the complexities introduced by the new I-9 Form, which has been in effect some time back. The revisions to this form have significant implications for the way employers conduct internal audits and make corrections, underscoring the importance of a meticulous approach to compliance.
